Kids Murder Mystery: Western Party

I always do themed birthday parties for my kids! It is such a fun way to keep memories and track of the “fad” or what they were into at that milestone / age.

BUT it is a busy season of life for me right now! So, this was such an EASY but amazing themed party that looked like I spent months planning, but most importantly the kids LOVED it.

Right now, my ten year old is into all things western. He is in rodeo/roping lessons where he rides and cares for horses. When I saw this site had a western themed kids party just one click away, I was sold.

Once I was able to purchase the actual material (which by the way you will need a printer and a LOT of paper) I was able to print it, and just amazon shop for the props.

We picked some western games for the kids, western style dinner which paired perfectly with the “Rootbeer social” theme. SO SIMPLE!

Ok so let’s start at STEP ONE: I got the Murder Mystery Western Themed party at https://www.nightofmystery.com/ . One awesome thing about this site, is they have a list of steps for you to follow also! Starting with the invitations so all your guests dress and know their character.

STEP TWO: Purchase decor and props. Mostly amazon. This Saloon door was the BEST and made the party! My husband used leftover wood pieces to build a door frame for it, because we don’t have a door into our kitchen or dining room where we had the party.

One tip I would recommend for this party specifically, is having an “interrogation area” set up. Just a little kids table so they can read some scripts and interrogate each other. I think this is where they had the most fun.

The theme of the party is a root beer social. We did burgers and hot dogs with baked beans, and weren’t sure how many people may come so we also did a crockpot of chili and cornbread. We of course served rootbeer floats and s’mores for dinner.

I hope you have a fantastic western themed birthday party and I’ll always answer and questions about it that I can!
