to Glass of Gratitude
She fell at his feet and bowed before him, overwhelmed by gratitude. Then she took her son in her arms and carried him downstairs. 2 Kings 4:37 NLT
Hello! I am so excited to share all my experiences with you, as we continue to learn together how to navigate this crazy motherhood life!
I live in Northern Arizona, with a wonderful hardworking husband and THREE crazy boys! I work part time in real estate, and homeschool my oldest son, Caleb. He is starting 5th grade. I am testing homeschooling out this summer with my middle son Jadon, (I should say, HE is testing it out to see if he is ready to make that transition yet!). My youngest, Dominic is three and will be in preschool at a private Christian school.
I know it sounds strange that I have one homeschooled and the other two in school! Allow me to explain. I NEVER thought I would be a homeschool-mom. After COVID and teaching at home, I couldn’t wait for my kids to return to school with their friends!
But, my oldest was struggling with reading, and his teacher struggled with that. It got to the point where he was very emotional to even attend school, and had some really terrible stories of being embarrassed at his reading level. After several meetings with the school, it was ultimately decided to remove him from public school, and homeschool in order for him to catch up.
Well….. then we fell in love with homeschooling! To sum up our journey this far, I will start with the fact he was determined to have dyslexia, and homeschooling has been an amazing adventure of teaching at the pace he is at, reading STRESS FREE and excelling at a faster pace in other subjects he enjoys, like math. I don’t mean the schooling is stress free by the way, every day is different it seems, but HE DOESN’T hate reading anymore. He isn’t afraid or embarrassed to learn it! He also feels accomplished and proud to say he started the next level of math and can explore his interests.
Anyone who homeschools knows this comes with so many more details that one could never write in a few short paragraphs. And anyone who is considering homeschooling I know still has so many questions! But this is how we got where we are today!
